Nevermind

I change my mind from yesterday. I'm nowhere near the levels of desperation of a few days ago, but I am also far from feeling the same sense of optimism and will that I had yesterday.; Between yesterday and today, nothing much has happened, and most of all, nothing of much consequence. I saw a dead rat the size of a dog on the beach, but this failed to scare me. I've been next to live mice and haven't blinked an eye. A dead one, regardless of its size, fails to leave a huge impression on me.

The behemoth in question
After seeing the rat, I went home, where I had a spiny conversation with my host father. At 10:00, I ate dinner and went to bed. When I woke up, I slowly and fearfully entered the shower, singing, and making noise like usual. After a hurried breakfast, I went to the bus stop, where, like usual, I waited for a clando. I entered a car and told them my stop. I was surprised to see a car with handles, one with seat belts, one that smelled of car, and not of rotting. However, I made nothing of it. Hey, they got to get new cars at some point, right? When I got to my stop, in front of Hotel Ocean, I went to give them the habitual 100 CFA, and, to my great surprise, the driver did not accept the money. I asked him if it was too little, and he responded simply. "C'est n'est pas un clando". This isn't a clando. It wasn't a clando. I got out, in shock. my 100 CFA still in my hand. It wasn't a clando. I had gotten into a stranger's car and ordered them to take me to a hotel, no qualms about it. I can only imagine what the people thought. Now, this time, everything went well. I got to go to work for free, and the people took me there with no delay. But what if it hadn't all gone so well? What if he had asked for 10,000 CFA? Or what if he had decided to take me somewhere far away? He could have kidnapped me without a problem. This is a problem. The lesson here is, only get into a complete stranger's car if the car looks very shitty.
I'll be 15 in one week. I'm so young. I am so incredibly young. In other news, it's been one week since my dad left.
